What is Reformer Pilates? What Does It Do?

Reformer Pilates is a specialized exercise method that utilizes specially designed equipment to promote body flexibility and toning. With personalized exercise programs, our Reformer Pilates sessions are used for treatment and rehabilitation purposes, especially for individuals with orthopedic complaints, and are conducted by expert physiotherapists. Reformer Pilates serves as a complementary exercise routine following physiotherapy and manual therapy sessions, incorporating specific movements selected by therapists. It is generally used by individuals who want to maintain their overall health or need assistance in post-rehabilitation to aid their recovery. Reformer Pilates can address issues such as muscle weakness, limited or excessive joint range of motion, muscle imbalances, as well as shortness or lengthening of muscles, providing tailored solutions based on individual goals.

How long and how many sessions should Reformer Pilates be done, and how long does it take to see results?

Reformer Pilates can be practiced for many years, with a minimum of 2 sessions per week. To notice changes in body shape and posture, it is recommended to continue for at least 3 months.

If Reformer Pilates is part of a corrective exercise program, it can be performed according to the plan set by the therapist, lasting from 1 week to several years. The effectiveness of Pilates can vary based on lifestyle factors such as nutrition and sleep patterns.

What are the benefits and effects of Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates, with its personalized exercise program, enhances muscle strength, improves balance and coordination, corrects postural problems, and alleviates existing pain. It strengthens all muscles in the body, particularly the spinal muscles, promoting upright posture and reducing the risk of hunching. Reformer Pilates can also lengthen short muscle groups, balance out imbalances, increase strength and endurance, leading to a more balanced posture in daily life, as it targets smaller and less observable spinal muscles compared to larger muscle groups.

Does Reformer Pilates help with weight loss? Is there a Reformer Pilates diet?

Reformer Pilates can contribute to weight loss as it helps burn calories during the 1-hour session, approximately 250-300 calories. However, the fundamental rule for weight loss remains the balance of calories consumed versus calories burned, achieved through a healthy diet. The resistance provided by the springs and the transmission of force while moving the platform require adjusting the level of muscle fatigue throughout the session, guided by our accompanying therapist.

Who can do Reformer Pilates?

Reformer Pilates can be practiced by anyone under the guidance of trained physiotherapists with knowledge of the Reformer machine and exercise techniques.
